| The East Valley Planning Commission will take its first crack at the Ritz Carlton project. "Marriott has brought in a proposal that is very sensitive to the hot buttons here in town. We think so. The Marriott property is actually the most complete we've seen for a resort special- use permit. It looks very good at this stage of the game," Town Manager Tom Martinsen said. "Marriott has spent a year and a half listening very carefully to the community and, obviously, observing with interest what else is going on within the community," John Berry, development attorney, said.
